New Year’s Eve is always a time for optimism. I hope to learn from my experiences in 2015 and to make new mistakes in 2016 instead of repeating the old ones. I hope to build on the skills I nurtured and the insights I gained this year.
New Year’s Eve 2015
Better Days
And you asked me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days
‘Cause I don’t need boxes wrapped in strings
And designer love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better daysSo take these words and sing out loud
‘Cause everyone is forgiven now
Cause tonight’s the night the world begins againI need some place simple where we could live
And something only you can give
And that’s faith and trust and peace while we’re alive
And the one poor child who saved this world
And there’s ten million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for themI wish everyone was loved tonight
And somehow stop this endless fight
Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days
Duck! Here Comes Another Year!
Good Riddance, but Now What?
Come children, gather round my knee;
Something is about to be.Tonight’s December thirty-first,
Something is about to burst. The clock is crouching, dark and small,
Like a time bomb in the hall.Hark, it’s midnight, children dear.
Duck! Here comes another year!”Ogden Nash [source: Saturday Evening Post Jan-2-1943, Vol. 215 Issue 27, p30]
